Type 1 diabetes, previously called juvenile diabetes, affects young adults, teens and children. Type 1, an autoimmune disease isn’t infectious and has no cure.
Their sickness must be controlled by people who have type 1 diabetes with insulin, exercise and diet. The cause of diabetes is not known. Researchers consider the bodies own defense system attacks itself, ruining the pancreatic cells that produce insulin.
Insulin is a hormone made by a pancreas that is healthy to convert blood glucose into energy. Should you not have diabetes, the human body keeps a perfect balance between everything you consume and the quantity of insulin you creates.
A Type 1 diabetic gives themselves insulin to keep such a balance, and must test their blood sugar regularly.
Blood sugars which can be too low or too high may be extremely dangerous. High blood sugars that are untreated can result in a critical condition called ketoacidosis, leading to death or coma. Incredibly low blood sugars can cause a man to lose consciousness and die at the same time. Hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) is a common problem in kids with diabetes, and should be medicated promptly.
They may not understand the outward symptoms as kids grow into adults with diabetes. This is really serious. A few grownups in this case now have dogs that can understand when their blood sugar is dropping, by smell and dwell together. Dogs are trained specially for this job. This is a life saving tool for anyone who no longer feel their blood glucose that is low.
